When you love someone….
When your heart is involved with
another, you will follow them. What they do, you do. What they want, you want.
Who or what they serve, you serve. No matter how tough or determined you may
think you are…. You will follow them.
When you love someone… you are
continually working to please them. To make them desire you and/or love you. At
any cost.
Then your heart is torn between
them and God, them and what you know to be right and righteous. You desire to
serve the Lord and do what His Word says and yet, the yearning for that special
someone is so overwhelming that you find you just cannot resist. Just one kiss,
just one date, or just one hug – to feel their touch. It can’t be so bad, can
it?
Oh, but it can. Lays potato chips
penned the slogan, you can’t eat just one. IF you give in to that desire for
another that may or may not feel the same toward you, then you won’t stop
with “JUST ONE”. Just one leads to another one and another one leads to
something else that you know you should not do. You find yourself making
excuses. Looking for ways for what you have gotten into to be alright and you
know it is not.
I had a friend that would put her
brother down, cuss him and call him all kind of names because he got hooked on
drugs. She acted like she despised him for allowing it to control him. Today
she is strung out on dope because she took that “just one”.
Mattthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the
one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
An entire family is destroyed
because somebody let just one come between them in the marriage bed.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a
friend of the world is the enemy of God.
God’s Word makes no exceptions.
It does not matter who you are. To live and abide in Christ YOU MUST NOT GIVE
IN TO THE LUSTS OF THE FLESH! No matter how good it smells, tastes or looks.
Satan don’t bring the ugly or stinky temptation. The thing that is put before you
will be attractive to you or it would not tempt you.
1Kings 18:21 ¶ And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long
halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then
follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
2Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion
hath light with darkness?
Galatians 3:1 ¶ O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye
should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently
set forth, crucified among you?
I listened to a preacher the other evening and his message went like this: when you are so burdened down
with guilt and shame and feel that you cannot go on; if you have stumbled and
fell….tell Hell you are getting back up.
Don’t give up…. Get up! What is your
temptation? What is your battle? What is the strongman that you must overcome -pills,
drink, lying, sex? Keep getting back up until the day comes that you STAND and don't waver! YOU CAN DO IT!
