Beating with the Word?

Proverbs 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

We (supposed to be God's children/Christians) have so many excuses for not doing that for which we are charged to do.
Lately, I have heard a lot of one statement more than others; "to beat them with the Word". Just exactly what are we reffering to? Corrections? Rebuke? Instructions? Guidance?
How do you "beat" someone with the Word? If the Word bites you then it is as God intended...you are under conviction and now you have to decide will you follow the path of rebellion or will you work to correct that which is wrong. God called the Word a two edged sword - it not only cuts the person it is swung at, it cuts the person wielding the sword too. The Word is for both! Often, both are in need of that same Word.

2Chronicles 34:21...for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.
Proverbs 13:13  Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

I contend that the Word is not the problem. Now if you have a bad attitude, an attitude of superiority when you approach someone expecting them to do what you say just because you say it...then you have the problem and it is not of God.

Acts 2: 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Definition of untoward: unruly, troublesome, adverse, hard to guide or control, improper, unseemly, disaster or annoyance.

Gladly receive the instruction, the Word of God, and you will find happiness beyond your imagination. Reject, rebell, refuse the Word of God and you will be a person most miserable!

God loves you. Enough to correct you. So stop blaming the person that loves you enough to tell you and look to yourself for what is amiss.

Blessing in Jesus Name,

Isaiah 66:2 ... but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
