Victory Trophy

I read an article this morning about a High School coach giving the football trophy just won by his team to the coach of the team that lost! Both teams fought hard to make the move that would bring them to the goal of victory. But, there could only be  one winner in this game. Yet, this coach recognized the efforts and awarded the victory trophy to them out of respect for their efforts.
Instead of gloating over the narrow margin of the win, coach recognized the need for encouragement in the other team. He had been there himself with many losses and knew how hard it is to keep an upbeat attitude for the next battle/game.
The same way we need to encourage one another as we work toward the "prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" Philippians 3:14. No need to gloat over the work/s that God does through us. For we are not the healer, deliverer, or savior - only God has that ability. We are simply a pile of dirt that God breathed life into and called His own. Even after many failures and disappointments in our lives, God still works His wonders through us for the good of ALL.
We battle principalities and our own flesh daily. Reach out to another and give them a lift....a victory trophy....for their efforts as they face each day too. Take a hint from a compassionate coach and pass the trophy on to who needs to be encouraged. You know you won, now help someone else know that they can too!

God is LOVE.
