Dance Before the Lord

I will sing, I'll shout.
I'll dance before the Lord
Dance before the Lord
Dance before the Lord
I'll sing, I'll shout
I'll dance before the Lord
He is the great I AM

You know that feeling, that joyous feeling that makes you want to move when you feel the presence of the Lord?
That is the feeling that made David dance!

2Samuel 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
18 And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
19 And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
20 ¶ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

David had no pride in his way, no fear of what people think, nor resolve stood between David and his worship that day.
So why is it when the Spirit of the Lord moves on us, we wrap ourselves in a cloak of dignity and resist the dance? I'm not talking about sensual or enticing dance. I am referring to that joyous feeling that comes over one when the presence of the Lord is there and you feel that joyous unction to worship Him... oh, but somebody might talk about me. I might be the only one or they will talk about me if I step out of my seat and PRAISE HIM!

David did not care that someone might see him.. he knew they would. Yet, he praised God anyway. Even when he was accused and condemned for dancing for all to see only in his ephod. He did not concern himself with their disdain or condemnation. He went further and said that he would do even worse. This was between him and the Lord. His act of stripping away all vanity and pride of life for the Lord. Nothing between them. Everything out in the open... nothing hidden. Naked before the Lord!
His honor was from God, therefore, he would be honored by others.
He also did not practice dancing six weeks before his performance... this dance was a pure delight in the Lord God... a praise unto the Lord from his very soul. His feet moved by the song of joy in his heart. Choreography played no part in this dance!

Ezekiel 21:25 And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
26 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.

Psalms 150:4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

PRAISE HIM!

Stiffnecked People
