Make A Joyful Noise

Why does it "kill the spirit" when someone that can't carry a tune in a bucket, sings in the service?

Does that change the words to that song or the meaning of your praise? I know that unpleasant sounds, sight, and smell turn us off, but 7 times in the Word of God it says to make a joyful noise!

When we are praising the Lord truly from our heart and soul, would that still distract from our praise - the off key singer? Why do we have to have beautiful music, person, or tunes to worship? The song of praise can and will change the atmosphere, from the words and not the singer. That same singer can sing alone in the house, in the car, or even out in the woods and the atmosphere will change, God's presence felt by them. Yet, when someone else hears the same sound/words... it dries them up. That is not worship, it is emotionalism. Feelings created by the sounds and words that are sung.

Then you may not truly be worshiping God but the sound/song!

Too often we adore the person singing and it "sounds" sweet to us and we call it anointed when in reality it is our love for the person/song that makes us feel that way. True anointing comes when one focuses on the Lord and not the singer/song so much. Letting His presence flow over and through you. What sounds beautiful to this one does not sound so good to that one.  My Mother loves to hear a particular lady sing but, her gravely voice just grates on me if I am listening with the carnal ear. Still, when I turn off the carnal and start listening with the heart and soul I can feel God's presence all over me as she sings!

Praise and worship Him and your atmosphere will change! Stop focusing on the carnal and let God surround you with His awesome presence.

It is also true that no one WANTS to listen to an off key - can't carry a tune singer (unless it is your child) ; then you will allow the Spirit to be quenched. A good singer performs and we whoop and holler calling it anointed. As a Pastor friend says... WELLLLL.

Just because it sounds great, looks good, and smell marvelous does not mean it is anointed. We must learn the difference between emotionalism and anointing!

Moses was God's chosen and anointed one for his purpose, yet Moses had a speech problem. How hard was it for the people to pay attention and listen? We recently had a minister at our church who had an extreme twitch. It was hard to quench the flesh and ignore the twitch to listen and hear the Word of God coming from him. We want the perfect speaker, singer, and teacher to present to us, yet, God often chose the one with a problem to do His Works and carry His anointing. How many have we rejected that may have had what we needed at that momen in their anointing? When we rejected them for their imperfection, we rejected the very miracle we needed!

Ps 66:1 ¶ <>Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

Ps 81:1 ¶ <> Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Ps 95:1 ¶ O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Ps 98:4 ¶ Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Ps 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

Ps 100:1 ¶ <> Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Be very honest now.... what "handicap" do you have? We all have something about us that someone does not like. Yet, God will use whom He chooses!
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Don't let your "thing" become a stumbling block to you! Go visit the nursing homes, sing to your hearts content. read, preach, pray.... those residents love having someone care enough to come be with them for an hour. Visit the hospital/s, sit awhile with someone and share the gospel of Jesus! A lot of hospitals chaplains will tell you who has no visitors coming to see them. Make that person's day a bit brighter with your smile. Little is much when GOD is in it!

Lord, make us bold in your anointing. Wise as a dove, swift as a deer, and humble in our walk with you. Show us your anointing and guide us to that place you want us to go in Jesus precious Name I pray. Amen
