A soldier in the military must follow orders or they are putting themselves and others at higher risk. If they don't die they could face a dishonorable discharge.
An employee must follow instructions or they could be terminated.
A child must follow instructions or be disciplined/expelled.
Orders or instructions what ever you may call it are for your own good and for teaching. We may not always know or see the "big" picture but we need to adhere to the way of the teacher/instructor. Ever heard the term "the hard way"? It is harder to learn without instruction or by not following instructions.
In Joshua 11 the Word tells us of Joshua's instructions to successfully win the war. Coming from God through Moses, Joshua had instructions to follow a certain plan of action for success. He followed the orders given perfectly for an expected outcome. He didn't grumble or question why. Nor did he demand to talk directly to God for confirmation of the plan. He did as the Man of God directed him to do and the war was won just exactly as God told Moses it would happen. The land became theirs and all the other kings/kingdoms quit trying to overtake the Israelites. War ended for that time.
Joshua 11:15 ¶ As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
In today's society, many follow the deceiver blindly. Why is it so easy to believe the deceiver than the true men/women of God? Perhaps because the deceiver tells us what we want to hear.
Or, many question and doubt their leader - leaning unto their own understanding. Often, making the mistake of getting out of God's perfect will for their life. Then they wonder why things just don't work for them. More often than not, blaming God or the preacher for their unsuccessfulness in life and spirituality.
God has a plan. It is in the Word of God and sometimes He uses men and women of God so that you can fully understand that plan for your life. Listen to them. Stop arguing that "you just don't believe God would expect that of you"... consider carefully your decision/s before running on your own thoughts and desires. Your purpose/destiny depends on you following God's plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever! What He desired in the Old Testament, He still desires today. Obedience to His Word and most importantly, you to love Him with all your heart and all your soul!
Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
God Bless you and keep you till He comes is my prayer.
