Joshus 18:3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
There is a place called Unclaimed baggage where lost items are kept until a time when someone takes them and sells them to others. A person's lost treasure is now owned by a stranger when they do not look for it to claim it.
We have so many blessings of the Lord left unclaimed. Why do we not claim all that God has for us? Could it be that we are slack in seeking Him? Slack in worship? Slack in witness of Him? Slack in compassion for others? Slack in works?
Often we are so engrossed in living our life as we planned it or working at getting it how we want it to be that we fail to see the blessing/s God has in store for us as opportunities cross our path. Unclaimed Blessings....
That person stalled by the roadside that we zipped right on by may have been the blessing we needed...
The waitress serving us needs a kind word and good tip but we want to go to the movie instead so we only left her a minimal tip if we left one at all (she didn't refill our tea glass quick enough anyway)...
The person in line in front of us at the register is just a little short of cash for their bread and milk, you could afford to help them.. did you? Or were you impatient and frustrated that they were holding up the line....
The lady walking in front of you dropped some money... did you pick it up and give it back to her or did you put it in your pocket calling it a blessing?
To help others looking for a reward or a pat on the back is not the blessing that I refer to. The blessing of God is not self serving. The blessings I refer to are the blessings that God bestows on us when we unselfishly are compassionate toward one another.
Unclaimed blessings....
We have the opportunity daily to receive blessings that go unclaimed.
1Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
We say we have faith to believe God will provide what we need and give us the desire of our heart;
yet, how do we treat our fellow man/woman?
We want God to bless us ....
James 2:14 ¶ What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
We must not be slack concerning the works of the Lord. We have heard the term "actions speak louder than words" because they do. Your life is more of a witness than what you say.
Don't lose out on your blessings.... reach for those unclaimed blessings. Be aware of the opportunity God places in your path today.
