Numbers 14:1 ¶ And all the congregation lifted up their voice,
and cried; and the people wept that night.
2 And all the
children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole
congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt!
or would God we had died in this wilderness!
3 And wherefore hath
the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and
our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?
4 And they said one
to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5 ¶ Then Moses and
Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the
children of Israel.
6 And Joshua the son
of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the
land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto
all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed
through to search it, is an exceeding good land.
8 If the LORD delight
in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which
floweth with milk and honey.
IF, big word. So many of us expect God to just show up and
perform without any return from us. Wait does not mean to sit down stony faced
until God comes with our gift/s or makes us what we should be for him. A waiter
or waitress is a server. One who serves. Serve the Lord and He will “grow” you
in Him. Then you will be what He desires for you. Then “all these things will
be added unto you.”
The job of waiter barely has time to take a break. Yet we
seem to expect God to come and hand out the blessings. God you promised me! I
am waiting for it.
You get a prophecy, immediately you start “looking” for the
great work to happen. Immediately you expect all things to change and for you
to want nothing. God’s Word says that He will supply our needs, not our wants.
He will make a way, not give to you on a silver platter. He also said, “work
while it is day for the night cometh when no man can work.”
I told a young lady about a revival coming up at Gospel
Truth. The words that came out of her mouth grieved me. She said, “Good, I will
go and get my healing.”
Not one word about serving the Lord or repentance – she
wasn’t even trying to live right- not one indication that she was interested in
the Lord, only HER wants. Still today, she is not right with God. Yet, the
expectation that God will “give” to her is still there.
How is it that those of us that are called by His name do
not or cannot seem to expect Him to show up and do that which is needed and
yet, a sinner not even trying to serve the Lord expects Him to just give them
all they want? God has made promises to us, He also gave us commandments to
follow. We don’t get to choose which ones we want, we must obey them all if we
truly love Him.
Seek the Lord for what He wants for your life, serve Him and get busy "being about the Lord's business". He WILL take care of your business! God's love is unconditional, yet, His favor is not.
