Cruising down the road at 76 MPH. Yeah, I know; the sign says 55, but this baby will run like a flaming arrow, and I got a 'need for speed'. Besides, I need to blow out the junk and get to where I am going.
WHAT?? WHERE DID THOSE LIGHTS COME FROM?? WHERE WAS HE HIDING AT?? LORD, I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER TICKET!! STUPID COPS!!! NEVER AROUND WHEN YOU NEED THEM, BUT ALWAYS THERE WHEN YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE A LITTLE FUN!!
Isn't it funny how we always seem to blame someone or something else, when we get caught doing something wrong. Sure, there was a speed limit sign, and everyone else was doing the speed limit, but it just seemed like that need for speed kept urging me to go faster.
I can remember one of my favorite excuses as a child, was, "Everyone else is doing it!" Of course Mom always wondered, out loud, that if my friends were to jump off a bridge would I do it as well.
And then there was that popular statement, that I wasn't everyone else, and I wasn't going to do that particular thing that everyone else was doing.
I was so deprived.
In our Christian lifes, there are written laws in the Holy Bible, that we, as Christians, are expected to follow. Unfortunately, today many "churches" have "watered down" many of those commandments in order to boost enrollment and/or income. Instead of taking responsibility for wrongful actions, many "Saints" caught in sinful ways simply blame it on other factors or teachings. The act of Repentance seems to be a forgotten, little taught, act in many churches in this modern age.
Many times, we play games with our salvation believing that we won't get caught or it isn't that big of a sin. I wonder sometimes, if on that fateful day when we stand before the Lord our God, and he begins to read our sins aloud to us, if we will be tempted to place the blame on someone or something else. Do you really think God will accept that the reason that you committed adultery, was because your spouse was doing the same thing, or you were just bored with your spouse? Do you believe that God is going to overlook your stealing, becuase you were deprived as a Child? Do you think Jesus is going to be more lenient, about your forsaking to attend your church because you were too tired when you got home from work on Tuesday night?
We can't be perfect, but we can be forgiven. Repentance means to ask for forgiveness, and then NOT to commit the sin anymore in the future.
If the rapture were to occur in the next 30 seconds, what would be the thing(s) that would keep you from getting off the ground and spending eternity with the Father? You might want to give it about 25 seconds of thought, just in case.
