Noise.

Excerpt from Kim Potter daily motivationals.....

For myself, when I first became born-again, I found the scripture that says 'I will call upon You and You will answer me.' I remember to this day how I felt when I read that this Almighty God would speak back to me if I would talk to Him. It was a rhema word to me and I grabbed hold of it and have been able to clearly hear God's voice since that day.
However, if I allow things to get too busy or too noisy, then at those times it is hard to discern the voice of God among the many voices. Most people think there are only two voices, God's and the devils. But I believe there are many voices, God's, devils, mine, my family's, circumstances, facts - the list goes on and on. In the midst of all these voices it is important to discern God's voice and it is not in the noise.
In 1 Kings 19, we find Elijah had run from Jezebel, just after He witnessed fire come down from heaven. He ran into a cave, trying to save his own life. The Bible says God showed up to talk to him, first there was a great wind - but God was not in the wind. Then there was an earthquake - but God wasn't there either. Then there was a fire - but God was not there. God was in the still small voice. He wasn't in the noise of the wind, the earthquake or the fire - He was the still, small voice and Elijah knew that voice well. The Bible says when he heard the voice he went outside to hear what God had to say.
The word 'still' means whisper and calm and comes from the word silent. The word 'small' means fine and the word 'voice' means noise.' From my experience, God is not going to yell at you - He is that calm, still, whisper that comes when you have shut out all the other noises in your life. He is the very origin of peace and calm, His voice is filled with all He is which is peace and calm.
If you are anxious or fearful or angry or yelling - it is extremely difficult to hear His voice. You have to come to a place where you are calm, still and silent - that's when you will hear Him.
Too much noise in your life can be dangerous. Too much noise in our own life can hinder us from hearing warnings from God. Too much noise in our life could cause us to go the wrong way. Too much noise in our life could cause us to miss a rhema word from God.
