We cannot ignore the evidence that is right in front of us.
God is and always will be sovereign and He will provide for His people. Still, we must prepare. Get and stay close to God. Be in tune with Him. We used to "tune in" our tv, radio , etc.to get the song or program we wanted. Well, let's "tune in" to God to see what He wants us to see with spiritual vision and hear with spiritual ears.
God told me a few years ago "prepare ye the way of the Lord". At that time I did not know what He meant. I do know. It is a word straight out of scripture. yet, I knew it was a word to pay attention to.
One day I heard the Lord say, "prepare to move." We were looking for a house and I thought that what God meant was that I would be moving into a new house. Yet, it wasn't what I thought, God had another plan. We have to stop thinking we know what God is telling us. Ask Him what He means and wait on His answer. He WILL guide you in/to the path He has prepared for you.
I did move, just not to another house. I added rooms onto the mobile home I was currently in and moved to another room which is bigger and better than what I was in. Thank you Lord!
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

So, I encourage you as you read this book to ask God for His guidance, His thoughts and not your own.As you walk with God - seek His will and way! Thank Him for everything, He will give more than you even ask for! He will provide when you think there is no way, He is the way maker! Praise His Holy name!
