Joshua 2:8 ¶ And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
9 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
When and where God leads you - He has prepared the way before you even get there!
When Joshua sent the two men to spy out the land, even Jericho, the King and all the people already knew that God had given the land to the Israelites. There were those that traveled before them spreading the Word. Sharing the promise of God before they even got to the land of milk and honey.
The King of Jericho believed this forewarning and thought he was ready to defend the land against the take over. Now if he had taken a different direction and surrendered peacefully perhaps he and his people could have lived. The harlot realized that her and her family's salvation lay in the surrender to God's people so she helped the two men escape the search. By making the commitment and vow with them, she and hers were saved when the Israelites came.
What are you holding onto that God wants you to let go? You can acquire your salvation, secure your deliverance by letting go of what you are holding onto. Is it really worth it? Absolutley not. Hell is real, Heaven is real... you choose this day whom you will serve!
Father, I pray that we choose wisely and not foolishly in this life to serve you so that we attain eternal life. Not just because we want to live forever, but because we want to live forever with you. To continually live in your presence. Streets of gold sounds awesome, but just to sit at your feet God is the utlitmate reward, Lord. Thank you for your love, mercy and grace in this life for without it and you, we would be most miserable. Bless the Lord, oh, soul and all that is within me! Amen
