King Saul chased David with an army of 3000 men to kill him.
David snuck into the camp and left evidence that he was there, had the
opportunity to kill King Saul but did not. Saul quit chasing David and he
thought all was well between them. Then Saul gathered the same army and went
after David again.
David could no longer convince himself that this is just a
misunderstanding. He had to come to terms with the fact that Saul hated him and
wanted him dead. Oh, how that must have hurt him. Again, David crept into Saul’s
camp… God had put the army, guards included, into a deep slumber for David. So
he was able to get into the camp easily. Again, David did not kill Saul. He
knew that Saul had been anointed by God even though he was in error now… Saul
had gone mad.
David knew to leave these things in God’s hands and design.
Now, the “friend” that was with David was ready to slay Saul believing that God
had made the way for this to happen. Be careful who you listen to for they
might not be in tune with God as you suppose.
Prophecy had already proclaimed David as the next King…
surely this was God’s way of getting Saul out of the way?! David should claim
his inheritance. Too many today are still trying “help” God fulfill prophecy.
God does not need our assistance to complete that good work in us.
David shewed through his actions that he was not letting
offense rule him through anger, hurt and betrayal! He had every reason to
believe he had a “right” to slay Saul yet, this is what David’s response was…
1Samuel 26:9 And
David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand
against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?
What would your response be? “I HAVE A RIGHT”, or “GOD
FORGIVE THEM”?
That preacher that
wounded you is still God’s to deal with. That Sunday School teacher that did
not include you in the class activities will answer to God, not you. Turn away
from the poison created by offenses.
Let Jesus take care of it ALL! You are a child of the one
true King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Don’t you know even yet that “He will
repay?”
Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it
is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Be like David, of a pure heart, not wishing for another’s
punishment. Leave it in God’s hands – to forgive or punish.
Be Blessed
