Seasonal or Not

Today I wish to discuss drought, dry season as we call it.

How often have we told someone "I am going through a dry season" or encouraged (we thougtht) someone that seems to be in a dry season?

Let's look at what drought is for a minute...

Drought is an extended period when a region notes a deficiency in its water supply whether surface or underground water. A drought can last for months or years, or may be declared after as few as 15 days.

[1] Generally, this occurs when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. It can have a substantial impact on the ecosystem and agriculture of the affected region. Although droughts can persist for several years, even a short, intense drought can cause significant damage

[2] and harm to the local economy.

Periods of droughts can have significant environmental, agricultural, health, economic and social consequences. The effect varies according to vulnerability.

Now let's think about our walk with God...

How do we get into a period of "drought" - a dry season? Is it truly a season or is it a result of our business, non-chalance, or just laziness?

What brings the the "rain"? Praise and Worship! So have I been slack in my ministrations to the Lord? And why? Does that mean I can blame it on a season? NO

The blessings, the joy of the Lord, the sprirtual flow of God in our life is ALWAYS regulated by "me". Do I pray, do I praise, or do I find something/someone else to occupy my time? I have brought on my own drought. I have stopped the rain.

The good news is, I can make it rain too! Get back into the presence of the Lord and stay there. Because in His presence is all love, joy, and peace no matter the surrounding circumstance/s.

The longer one stays in the drought the more you effect and possibly infect your relationship with God. It not only harms your life and soul, it also affects those around you. What and who God places in your life to help or who is watching you. If you are making excuses for your slackness, they will learn to do so also. It is a truth that we teach more by our actions than by our words. Yet, words carry a powerful effect whether it is cutting or a medicine to others. Encourage one another to stay in the rain.

Intense drought causes a significant change in the spiritual and the natural.
Isaish 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
