Matthew 27:23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 ¶ Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
I want to take a moment to focus on this scripture:
verse 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
The people paid no attention to the governor or Pilate... they were in a frenzy, a blood lust if you will. Nothing would sway them from their purpose. Why? Because someone in authority told them it should be this way. Someone misled them and they followed blindly. Never considering that the one they were listening to could be wrong. Could they? Is it possible? NOOOO.
They are our priests, our religious leaders! You cannot tell me they have been teaching me wrong!
Now think about today...... yesterday...tomorrow. Who are you listening to? Are checking for yourself or are you just listening to what someone else is teaching/preaching?
The people were so caught up with their leaders (like sheep) that they went so far as too proclaim Christ's blood on their own heads and claimed it for their children too! Friend, what are you claiming for your children?
You better know what you are saying and doing is of God, not some man's interpretation of the Word. Get in the scripture for yourself, asking God himself to open your understanding; having made sure you are not listening to the wrong "shepherd". The wrong voice. Study God's Word.
I grew up in a United Pentecostal Church, now I am not putting them down, but I did find that some things I was taught just is not in the Bible the way I was taught it. I remember when I was a little girl, they would have debates. Two ministers would get up and literally try to "out scripture" each other as proof one was wrong and the other right. Looking back now it seemed more like a politcall debate to me. I still love those I grew up around. Very loving and sweet people. I also remember them casting out devils too.
Back to my topic .. don't be a part of the crowd! Be a part of the Bride of Christ. Would you marry a person that you know nothing about? Most of us wouldn't. Yet we go from church to church looking for the one that "feels good" instead of the one God want's you in. To teach you, grow you... by the way, growing pains hurt. Don't run from correction, allow God to mold you and then you won't be swayed by the "crowd". Rocking from one doctrine to another. Nor will you jump on the first thing that feels good or is popular.
You will reserve yourself for instruction from the Father, basking in the knowledge that the Holy Ghost is your comfort and guide, praising Jesus for His sacrifice as the spotless lamb slain for your transgressions.
Don't be a crowd pleaser. Shouting mayhem and making noise. Be a tongue talking, Bible (sword) believing soldier in the army of the LORD!
Those people did not know what they were saying, what they claimed and proclaimed that day. Not only upon themselves, but their children too.
They were just blindly following their "leader".
Believing the lie.
Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Luke 6:39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
